Church Hall… At last weeks Ward meeting a representative from the church was unable to attend however we were ask to read out the following statement with regards to our Church Hall ‘The Parish was instructed to close St John’s Hall in August 2017 for safety reasons. No decision has been made regarding the future of the hall and the process has been open and transparent. The latest survey report, commissioned by the Diocese and carried out by an independent surveyor, is available on the parish website. In that report, all options are considered to sustain community activities. We are holding a public meeting to explore these options in more detail with the community on 14th November at 7.30pm in St John’s Church.
The report estimates the cost of repair at £320,000 and the surveyor will be available at the public meeting on the 14th November to provide further information if necessary. The parish does not have sufficient funds to repair this building and the maximum grant available from the Diocese is only £5000.The Diocese is happy to continue working with the parish to identify possible external sources of grant funding, but the project will need considerable investment from the local community both in terms of help with the grant applications and community fund-raising.
