Rags to Riches….. Highcross Primary PTA like other PTA’s in our community look at various ways to raise funds for their school. One of the schemes they have adopted, works well, requires minimal effort and generates a decent amount much of needed funds, is the rags2riches4schools scheme and organisers have asked that I share details so that other schools might benefit. The scheme requires the PTA to put out a request for donations of reusable clothes and accessories, which are traded in for cash. Not only does the school benefit from the funds raised, but the clothes are sent off to developing countries and sold on by market traders, helping others. The scheme is also run by a local business and therefore helps the local economy . However, during these difficult times, the PTA have had to put a request out to the wider community in order to increase their funds from this scheme in order to compensate for the lack of funds due to cancellation of fundraising events, thanks to all in Rogerstone who have donated. Details of the scheme can be found on the following link: www.rags2riches4schools.co.uk.
Spooky Sparkle Fun….Morrisons in Rogerstone are kindly holding a spook-tacular Halloween themed fundraising day for Sparkle on Friday 23rd October. The Sparkle team will be outside the store from 9:30am with a tombola, raffle and some special Sparkle merchandise that you’ll be able to purchase on the day, all following Covid guidelines of course. The Morrisons Foundation may be able to match the amount that is raised from this event so the team really want to try and raise as much money as they possibly can and would love for you to be a part of that! *Please ensure that government guidance is followed at all times.* Some other fantastic news from Sparkle – you may have seen Sparkle’s new sign on Niche IFA’s digital billboard screen, located just by the Brynglas tunnels on the M4. Thank you to Niche IFA for supporting our local children’s charity – the team said ‘we are most grateful and this will really help us in our campaign to raise awareness and to continue #helpingspecialchildrenshine’.
